What’s the deal with Jesse Jackson?

What’s going on with Jesse Jackson?  I’ve always considered him somewhat radical when it comes to his views on what’s happening here.  I do have to say though, because he has been radical when it comes to race issues, it has help to open the door for Senator Obama to have the opportunity to run for the highest office in the free world!

I guess that is why it surprises me so much for him to say the things that he said in whispered tones to another guest waiting to be on the Fox News channel.  I think it shows a little insight into his character.  It’s not always what you say in public that reveals your character, but those things that are said when you think no one is listening.  Well surprise Mr Jackson!  Your mic was hot!  Ut oh!

I know that he is trying to pick up the pieces, but I really believe that the damage has been done and it will be hard for people (especially the Obama supporters) to look at him in the same way as before.  We’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

Fireworks and Family

Tomorrow is the 4th of July…actually it will be the 4th in about 10 minutes!!! Yeah, well, I guess its getting a little late to be writing my blog entry.  But as they say, better late than never…right?

We are headed to East Tennessee bright and early in the morning to celebrate with Bobby’s family.  The whole crew will get to see these 2 Nashvillians…Bobby’s sister, Lynn – her husband John and 2 kids; his brother Phil along with his new girlfriend Gwen and his daughter; his brother Chris and wife Amy and their 3 kids; as well as his mom and dad.  Being as we haven’t seen everyone since Christmas, we are looking forward to spending some quality time with them.

I’m sure there will be plenty of food, fun and fireworks to go around – having the freedom to celebrate Independence Day in how we want is what it’s all about!

Snap Crackle Pop (my imitation of fire cracker sound effects)

Work work work

It’s off to work I go!  Here I sit on my computer, knowing full well that I need to get to bed!  I have to go to work earlier than usual tomorrow because of the 4th.  The bosses usually let us go early on the day before a holiday and I don’t want to be left working on reports while everyone else is leaving to start their celebration.  I know how much I need to do and how long it will take…so I need lots of extra time.  We’ve been training a new girl, Tia, for the past week.  She is awesome!  She is picking up on everything pretty fast!  But even with that, tomorrow’s gonna be a bear!  With that said, I shall say good night.  Until next time…

What you “hear” is what you get!!!

I’ve added an application on here that is kind of exciting – called vodpod!  VodPod link is located over on the right hand side below my favorite links.  I will be able to share videos that are important to me.  Sometimes they will be personal and on some occasions, I’ll put some random ones on.  The first one that I posted was a visit with Rick and Bubba in Nashville at the Barnes and Noble.  They were there meeting folks that listen to there show and signing their latest book, Rick and Bubba for President.  Bobby and I were so impressed with them and how down to earth they were.  It is rare to find people that have “made it” and are successful according to the world’s standards, that still care for other people.  They were genuinely nice guys!  It didn’t stop with Rick and Bubba though!  The rest of their staff from Speedy, D, and Ryan Greewood to the interns – all made the experience at the book signing awesome!

It is cool to listen to them now on the radio and realize that what your “hear” is what you get in person.  When I hear the spirited fun they have and the way they make people both laugh and think, it is refreshing!

Oh My Goodness!

Bloggidy Blog-Blog-Blog!  Oh my goodness, I have been trying to get everything set up on here so that I can find things really fast.  I worked on it off and on today and then decided that my hubby Bobby needed one too…sooooooooooo…yep that’s right!  I have been helping him get set up and going too!

Why is it that when I decide to do something like this, I go hog wild?  I never seem to just try something out and see how it goes, I flip out and try to do it all!  I’m kinda crazy that way.  I remember one time that I was going to wallpaper my dining room and before I knew it, I wallpapered the dining room, hallway, foyer and put up half a wall between the living room and dining room. – And most of that was done in one week end LOL.

Well, just thought I’d catch you up on a tad of my craziness.  Speaking of crazy…I think I’ll take a break from this and do my laundry, now that’s a crazy idea!

Ok so it’s been a while…

Ok…so it’s been a while since I updated my blog!  I’ve been busy doing a lot of stuff…Oh my gosh…saying that reminds me of a lady where I work.  She is always saying “and stuff”!  Anyway, this will be short because I want to watch another episode of “Lost”…I only have 5 left and I am totally caught up – unbelievable.  Bobby and I have been like “Lost” maniacs for the past month and a half or more.  We started with season one and now in only 5 episodes, we will be having withdrawals…LOL  It will be January before we will be able to watch it again.  We never realized when we started watching it that we would get so totally hooked.

As for the “stuff” I’ve been up to – one thing is I redid my blog and changed where it is hosted.  I worked on the about me section, which is probably way more than you would ever want to know about Paula Maupin LOL.

As I typed that section, it brought back so many memories…if I had typed them all…you’d be reading for a week – I had to just touch here and there.  Some of the memories were awesome and some were heartbreaking.  I could have made it all happy go lucky, and left out the not so happy, but that wouldn’t be a true and honest look at where I’ve come and the events in my life that have made me who I am today.  Those rough times that we all go through are not pleasant at the time, but they definately can make us strong.  I feel like I have become a strong woman, but still have a tender side that can understand other people’s struggles.

Until next time…stay STRONG!

Almost Through with Season 3 Lost…oh yeah I am!

Bobby and I watched 4 episodes of Lost this past weekend. With me watching on my lunch and watching on weekends…I am actually working my way to the end of Season 3. I don’t know why I seem to be rushing it – wait a minute…I do too…It’s because when I get to the end of an episode…it has a way of drawing me right back into the next episode. This team of writers for this show are unbelievable! They don’t wait to just have a cliff hanger at the end of the season…there is a cliff hanger at the end of each and every episode. Love it!

When I last left it, Sawyer (real name James) had just choked a man to death. It was the guy that caused his dad to kill his mom and commit suicide. It turns out that the con man’s last name was Sawyer (thus why James took the name Sawyer) and that he is John Locke’s biological father. John enlisted Sawyer to kill him, because he knew that Sawyer would do what he could not bring himself to do – Kill the man that had betrayed him by stealing his kidney and pushing him out of a high rise building that resulted in breaking his back and putting him in a wheel chair. Which by the way he no longer needs the wheel chair since coming to the island…hmmm. Sound crazy? Exactly! The very reason I’m so hooked…you never know what craziness lies just beyond in the next episode…

Speaking of which…I’m gonna get my soda and get a sandwich and watch the next episode…I better call Bobby and tell him to watch it at home too…Later…

Thankful …

I have so much to be thankful for in my life! I know that my blessings come from God and that if they were based on how much I deserve…I would be living lean and probably be a little mean. But because of God’s infinate wisdom and his unconditional love, I have an abundance of blessings. A couple of weeks ago I spent time with my awesome sons, their beautiful wives and my precious grandchildren. How’s that for blessings? The time spent with them is so important to me. Even if tension rears it’s ugly head, it doesn’t subtract from the blessing that God wants me to receive in being with them.

Another special time was spent this past weekend with Bobby’s boys and my stepsons Will and Jonathan & his girlfriend, Kathryn. We had a great time – doing some fun things here in Nashville. Friday night we went to the Cheesecake Factory and had supper with Jon and Kat; Saturday we all went to Cracker Barrel for biscuits and gravy; that afternoon we all went down to the pool and enjoyed the hot weather with a dip in the pool; that evening Kat and Jon cooked for us (they were so cute); Sunday I cooked barbeque pork, baked beans, potato salad, and slaw (yummy); that evening we played putt putt’; Kat and Jon left for Lexington and we spent the rest of the evening with Will, and then it was Monday morning before I knew it and had to go back to work.

Again, I am so thankful for the time Bobby and I spent with his boys. I love all of our boys. So tonight in the quiet of my home. I say thank you Lord for Bobby, Brad, Holly, Cooper, Margo, Sloan, Everett, Bryan, Stacy, Joseph, Jonas, Brandon, Ashley, Nora, Jonathan, and Will. And thank you for Kathryn – it was great to meet her. Thank you for loving me and for all the blessings that are mine each and every day!

My dear friend…

My dear friend, Barb, is having a really hard time right now. I won’t go into all that has happened in the past few months, just suffice it to say that a difficult set of circumstances has created a lot of heartache for her. Since I have been through some rough days myself in the past and continue to have a few here and there…I try my best to help her through as much as I can.

Saying just the right thing is not always the most important thing…being there IS! Being there with an open mind and heart instills trust and can develop long lasting friendships. My favorite saying for years has been, “In order to have friends, you must first BE a friend!” So being a friend when the times are happy and when times are sad should always be the goal.

I care about you Barb…I’m here for you!

Technology is awesome

Bobby and I decided that we wanted to get some Tacos and thought there might be a Taco Bell closer to us than the one we had been going to so we went to…you guessed it…the internet! We went to their website and looked for the nearest one and there indeed was one closer. We then went to google search and put in the address. When we looked at the map, you could actually click on the camera and see the actual road and the businesses … there is Taco Bell as big as life with a broken sign. It was really cool to be able to look at your plan of attack way ahead of time and see your route home and which businesses to turn between to come home. Well…technology is great but the incompetence at the counter is still unbelievable. Bobby got home with our feast and there was one taco missing, 4 guacamoles and an order of cinn. sticks not to be found. Dang it! Oh well…it was still good and we got to see where to go – way cool!
